Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP)
KEEP is a registered non-profit, non-governmental organisation. Its mission is to ensure the future ecological and cultural prosperity of Nepal and its people by maximising the benefits and reducing the negative impacts associated with tourism. CAT is a lifetime member of KEEP.
On March 29, 2010, KEEP celebrated the contribution made by Doug Scott, CBE, director of Community Action Treks, one of the keen supporters and life members of KEEP, in appreciation for his remarkable effort and contribution to the establishment of the Kathmandu Environmental Education Project in 1992 and Porters’ Clothing Bank in 2009. His support was instrumental in the expansion and overwhelming success in fulfilling the organization's mission. The certificate of appreciation was conferred to honour and recognize his devotion, guidance and assistance bestowed to KEEP. |
|
| KEEP Porters’ Clothing Bank (Nepal) The new KEEP porters’ clothing bank in Kathmandu is now open and providing equipment to porters. DB Gurung and Ian Wall put this together in a remarkably short time. The store manager is ex-porter Kul Bahadur who lost his forefeet to frostbite, and the majority of the clothes are made in Nepal and purchased by donated money. |
