Korchen is a rounded ridge summit lying to the south of the sacred mountain of Machhapuchhare, one of Nepal’s most beautiful and most photographed mountains. Though lower in height, Machhapuchhare, its fish tail shape pointing skyward, appears to dwarf the mighty Annapurnas, which are ranged to the west and east. The panorama of these awesome peaks, viewed from Korchen’s summit in the pale light of dawn or bathed in evening sun, is a sight that few will forget. The views are sensational, but the real attraction of this route is that it is off the beaten track.
